A practical checklist for your private label pouch launch
A private label functional pouch project is easier to quote and review when the market, product specification and packaging decisions are written down before sampling.

A private label functional pouch project is easier to quote and review when the market, product specification and packaging decisions are written down before sampling.
Start with the market and the product
Identify the destination country, intended sales channel and the type of product you want to develop. “Functional pouches” describes a format, not a universal legal category. Record whether the brief is caffeinated, caffeine-free, botanical, nutrient-led or focused on a particular sensory concept. A clear brief lets the technical and commercial teams identify the questions that need an answer before a launch schedule is agreed.
Turn the concept into a sample brief
List the proposed ingredients, any target analytical specifications, flavor direction, sweetness preference and expected pouch format. Separate fixed requirements from preferences. If you have a reference product, explain what you want to learn from it: flavor intensity, material feel, can size or a particular packaging feature. Do not ask a sample to answer every commercial and regulatory question at once.
Plan the quantity by formula and flavor
The company’s source program lists a starting point of 5,000 cans per formula and flavor. Treat that as a discussion starting point. Printing minimums, ingredient procurement and custom components may change the actual quotation. A launch range with several flavors is several approved SKUs, each with its own specification and artwork. Ask for the minimums, included services and assumptions in writing.
Approve the full production reference
Keep the approved formula version, sample reference, label files, can configuration and outer-carton specification together. Confirm how deviations, artwork changes and repeat orders will be handled. A signed sample alone cannot explain which label version was printed or what test plan was agreed. Before production, make sure the account and quality teams are working from the same approval record.
Prepare the handover to your importer
Confirm the destination-specific document list, responsible importer, shipping terms and label-review responsibility. Ask which records accompany each shipment and which are available on request. A batch COA, product specification and commercial packing list perform different jobs. A structured handover reduces avoidable questions when the goods reach the next business in the supply chain.
Questions buyers ask
What should I send for an initial quotation?
Send the destination market, product category, formula direction, flavor, pouch and can preferences, estimated quantity and target launch window. State which requirements are fixed and which are open to development.
Is the first sample enough to authorize production?
Production should follow a complete approval record covering formula, sample, specification, packaging, artwork and the agreed test plan. A sample without these records leaves important decisions open.
